Synonyms : Common Alum,
Sulphate of Aluminium potassium, Potash alum, Phitkari.
Source : It is a chemical
compound. It is a found as a mineral, like salt. It is easily purchased from a
grocery shop.
Preparation : The pure crystals
are triturated with sugar of milk. 2x solution may be prepared by dissolving
alum one part in 100 parts of water (1/100). Higher dilutions are prepared in
alcohol from 3x dilution.

Dr. C. Hering in 1845.
Indication
It
is not a well proved remedy according to Dr.
Kent, because the general mental symptoms are missing. Dr. Kent regards it an anti-psoric remedy because it heals chronic
and deep seated tissue diseases. It is indicated in indurations, ulcerations,
cancerous, hemorrhagic. Catarrhal conditions and when the healing power is
feeble or lacking in the patient. It is a Psora-sycotic remedy.
Dosage : For physiological
purpose like stopping hemorrhage externally a solution of alum serves the
purpose. Powdered alum 10 grains on tongue, said to arrest an attack of asthma.
The very highest potencies have proved efficacious.
Repetition : Single dose of high
potency occasionally.
Duration of action
: Not
definitely known.
